3-2-1-Ignition*

3-2-1-Ignition* is the place to let your curiosities wonder.
We opened in the Broadmarsh Shopping Centre in Nottingham for four weeks in 2013, and then popped up at the Barbican Centre in London for their Festival of Neuroscience and Brainwaves Weekender March and April. We are always looking for new partnerships and new potential sites to pop up at! The original idea was to launch pop-up shops in unused empty retail spaces and bring them back to life with Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths activities. We set out to bring science to the high street, launch a programme on Citizen Science and test an alternative learning environment. Schools were invited to visit and take part in creative activities, workshops and sessions to surprise, excite wonder and delight. The first shop coincided with Nottingham’s 7th Game City Festival (20-27 October 2012) and promoted Nottingham as a Science City. Following the success we explored events, conferences and festivals where families learn together. At London's Barbican Centre, 3-2-1-ignition* ran experiments, workshops and science busking throughout The Festival of Neuroscience. |
